Victory Over ADHD Book Discussion - ALL BOOKS MAILED OUT

Having twin boys both diagnosed with ADHD, with one twin suspected of also possibly having autism; Deborah Merlin set out to help her children overcome the limitations of their diagnosis. Deborah enrolled her children in traditional therapies and saw improvements; but when she discovered they also had elevated blood lead levels, she began nutritional changes that made huge impacts in their progress.

The years of dedication and persistence paid off, both boys are currently in their freshman year of college. Deborah documents their journey in her book Victory over ADHD: How a mother's journey to natural medicine reversed her children's severe emotional, mental, and behavioral problems.

Yes Deborah - had some metal

Deborah, Yes, my little guy did have some metal issues, but he was excreting them on his own, so we chose not to chelate. He does not have any metal fillings... --- Carrie Elsass

Testing for lead

Angelia,

Your pediatrician should be able to test for lead. Most Western doctors don't test for candida. If your doctor is not knowledgeable about theses tests, Email me deborahmerlin@pacbell.net and I will help you find a doctor in your area. --- Deborah Merlin

Thanks Deborah

Thanks for giving me a starting point. Would my regular pediatrician be able to test for the heavy metal toxicity and yeast overgrowth - or is there another type of practitioner that I would need to take them to? Thanks for all your help! --- Angelia

For Angelia

Hi Angelia,

Please be reassured that both your children CAN recover from autism and ADHD.
Here are some quick tips for you of you have not done already
1. Remove all foods that contain artificial coloring
2. My kids did well after I removed dairy from their diet. Almond milk is a good alternative.
3. Have both of your children tested for heavy metal toxicity and candida (overgrowth of yeast) which is very common with autism and adhd.
There is more to be done but this would be a good start. keep me posted.

Joining Discussion

I am very excited about the discussion group and eager to learn more. I have two sons, the oldest (9) with ADHD and the younger (7) diagnosed with Autism. My family is struggling to find the correct interventions. I feel my ADHD son is becoming out of control.

We are ready to try something other than the typical medication that has been handed to us. I just don't know where to start. There is so much information out there that I have ended up feeling overwhelmed and unsure were to begin. I pray that we will be able to find interventions that will help my son. My heart aches when I watch him - I know he is struggling. Thanks for letting me participate. I can't wait to learn! --- Angelia

Response to Carrie

Carrie,

Heavy metal toxicity can cause gut issues. Has your son been tested for heavy metals? I could not get my candida issues under control until I had my amalgam fillings removed.

Answering Question posed by Vicki

Hi Vicki,
It was a wonderful confirmation that Westley said "I love life," After years of anger and frustration. I cried too when Westley said that.

It is important to work with a health care professional who has knowledge of amino acids for too much can cause an adverse reaction. Let me know if you have any questions.
Take care,

Deborah --- Deborah Merlin

Answering Question posed by Debbie

Debbie- The first step to treat ADHD is to remove all foods containing artificial coloring. If your Child has or had ear infections or frequent respiratory infections- remove dairy- almond milk is a good substitute. Have you had your child tested for food allergies, candida (yeast) and heavy metals?

The reason why some doctors thought my son had Asperger's was due to his low muscle tone, awkwardness and social skills. But he truly does not have Asperger's but may appear that way to some people. The doctor who specializes in diagnosing autism felt his issues came from his being born premature. He has low muscle tone(borderline cerebral palsy), and some social learning delays. Overall Westley is doing great!

Joining book group

Thanks to bad genetics, an out-of control vaccine schedule loaded with toxins, and too many antibiotics too young, our son has ADHD and PDD. All of the successes we've had with our son have come from gut-related interventions, such as diet change, supplements and tryingto restore gut flora...but we're not there yet. He keeps developing new food intolerances and currently has overgrowth of enterobacter and also is infected with h. pylori (the stomach ulcer bacteria). Sigh. But I am grateful for every intervention we've done- it seems God has relly led us every step of the way- maybe even right to this site! :) I would love to hear more in this book- it sounds great! --- Carrie

Want to participate

This is an awesome way to learn more about the subject by having an open discussion together. I am always willing to learn more about my little one, as ADHD is her main puzzle factor that she was diagnosed with. --- Jennifer
